Matti Klenell b. 1972

Matti Klenell (b. 1972) graduated 1999 from the department of Interior Architecture & Furniture Design at

Konstfack – University of Arts, Crafts and Design, Stockholm and founded his studio the following year. Klenell has since moved with ease between craft-, industrial- and spatial design. His work has a very strong relation to architecture with a developed sense for place, origin and space.

The portfolio includes a wide range of commissions from unique art projects, interior- and exhibition designs, as well as product design intended for serial production. Fontana Arte, Offecct, Swedese, Källemo, Marimekko and Iittala are some examples of his clients. Matti Klenell has received several awards for his work. Many of his designs are represented in museum collections in Sweden and abroad. His studio also take on creative direction assignments such as the A New Layer Project executed in collaboration with the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute. In 2015 Klenell was given the honourable task to do the art direction on the collective NM& project that was part in shaping the new Nationalmuseum in Stockholm.
